(1) Any law referred to in Article 2 or Article 3 shall contain such provisions for the amendment of the First Schedule and the Fourth Schedule as may be necessary to give effect to the provisions of the law and may also contain such supplemental, incidental and consequential provisions (including provisions as to representation in Parliament and in the Legislature or Legislatures of the State or States affected by such law) as Parliament may deem necessary

(2) No such law as aforesaid shall be deemed to be an amendment of this Constitution for the purposes of Article 368.

🔍 Explanation

It simply says that whatever changes are made under Articles 2 and 3 will not be deemed to be amendments under Article 368 of the Constitution.

There are two things here, first, the change has been talked about under Articles 2 and 3 and the second thing is Article 368.

So Article 1, which is only about the details of India, cannot be changed in any way with the help of it. That’s why only Article 2 and 3 are there with the help of which changes can be brought in the map of India.

Secondly, Article 368 is for the amendment of the constitution, if any kind of amendment is done under Article 368, then a special majority is required in it.

Article 4 clearly states that changes made through Articles 2 and 3 will not be considered under Article 368. This means that such a law can be passed with a simple majority and through the ordinary legislative process. ↗️ Click here to know in detail about Article 368.
